Lexi is my miniature poodle mix. She’s the best quarter life crisis a girl could ask for! When I moved down to Florida after graduating with my Master’s degree, I knew I wanted a pet of some kind. I was torn between getting a dog or a cat, but I wanted an animal I could take to the beach with me. Thus, I decided on a dog.
Initially, I wanted to get a corgi, but those dogs are so freaking expensive! Not to mention there was an 18-month waitlist with the breeder I talked to. I mean GOOD LORD!
Then I moved on to a standard poodle. Again prices were out of my range. I’m talking $1500-1800, not including the shipping of the puppy since I didn’t have many breeders near me.

I finally came across Sabine’s webpage Poodle Pleasures. She had miniature poodles as well as poodle mixes. Lexi is a dwarf doodle, which means she is mostly miniature poodle with little bits of Chihuahua and Pomeranian. I fell in love with her when I saw her little puppy picture and I took the plunge.
Going from puppyhood to doghood has been an experience, and I’ve loved (almost) every minute of it. Lexi is such a little cuddle bug! She loves giving kisses to every person she meets. She’s a little bit of a derp, but I love her for it. She will chase after leaves as they blow around her, but she will run away from a feather with her tail between her legs. Even though she is about to turn three, she still gets the zoomies like a little pup.
In the coming months, I will be posting more stories about her and her siblings. If there are any questions you have about Lexi or being a puppy parent, just ask!
Below is a mini gallery of some of our memories over the past 3-ish years. I will never turn down an opportunity to show pictures of my baby girl!
